Getting there. It runs without any noticable problems. Haven't driven it yet. Initially I did a trial fitting to ensure the car started. It did. I then took the EFI, manifold and all components to bits, cleaned them all up until they were squeaky clean, painted the fuel rail (decided not to chrome any parts only because I was impatient), replaced gaskets, got the injectors cleaned, and put it all back together again then put it all on the car again. So this is where I am now. A few pics of the latest position. 1st pic is position of the the coil now. 2nd pic shows the excellent ECU mount I have chosen :-) 3rd pic shows bonnet clearance with the C bonnet. It's close, and I've done nothing to achieve this. 4th pic show the temporary heater bypass; straight to water pump. This will go to a heater control valve t'd back to the water pump at some point. Also, you can see the Blue Sealant on the V of the manifold at the new valley gasket rubber. 5th pic show the mini extention loom I have created to plug the EFI loom into the B. (you can see the black multi connector for this in the 2nd pic) 6th pic, nearly there, but some tidying to do, and replace the odd temporary part I've used with a correct part. e.g. you can see the really long accelerator cable. It works for now. 7th & 8th pics, My C bonnet is going off to the body shop, so am using an old B bonnet temporarily. Doesn't look too bad in my opinion !! And yes, it runs well. Starts on first press of the button and idles like it never has before from cold !! Don't have to touch the throttle when starting it from cold, just press the button. Still feels weird not having to play the thottle and the choke. Can't wait to drive it... |
